Stun Studio
I have maintained a home recording studio since I was 16 years old.
I have recorded to tape and hard disk, and my songs have been played on multiple radio stations. I have performed in multiple bands as well as have given solo performances singing with guitar or keyboard, but it all goes back to one thing: when I get a song in my head, I must write it down before it gets lost.
I primarily write songs on piano or guitar, using a pen and a sheet of paper so I can edit my inspiration into something worth hearing.
Stun Studio simply enables me to make a more polished version of what comes to me in the middle of the night, sometimes in my dreams.
Recording
My primary Digital Audio Workstation is an Apple Mac Mini M4 Pro running the latest version of Logic Pro as well as the latest versions of Steinberg Cubase Pro and Ableton Live. I also have about 10 years of experience with Avid Pro Tools.
The audio signal path starts with a 4th generation Focusrite 18i20 audio interface and a Behringer ADA8200 ADAT audio interface for a total of 16 analog audio inputs as well as 2 SPDIF digital audio inputs. I also run multiple MOTU MIDI Express interfaces for handling MIDI ins & outs. And of course, what good is a studio without a selection of Microphones? I own a bunch.
Instruments
I am primarily a keyboardist, having played piano since I was very young. In college I took up the organ which I believe is quite a different instrument, aside from the looks. I have owned over 100 synthesizers and still keep a wide variety of synths in Stun Studio.
However this is not to dismiss my growing guitar collection. I am not a very skilled guitarist — for me, it’s just another flavor to add to music. I’m proud of my accomplishments with guitar even though it’s not my strong suit.
